David Bastin: The Fear Fighter
The next most common question that I get asked about Fear is “How do I get over the Fear of Failure?”
The Fear of Failure is very common especially for people involved with Sales…which means All of Us!!
This Fear is amplified considerably in the business of Network Marketing. To me, it all comes down to those 4 little words that you Never want to hear…..
I Told You So!!
Especially when those 4 little words come from your Husband, Wife, Mother, Father, Brother, Sister, Best Friend, In-laws (or Outlaws), and the list goes on. But it is not so much the fear of the actual failure of the business that so occupies our minds it is the fear of the Criticism/Rejection of what other people will think and say if we fail.
I remember a woman coming into my place of business years ago and saying “I gave you 3 months”. At the time I had already been in business for 6 years and the business was running very successfully, which I Triumphantly mentioned to her and her friend. She then reiterated, “Yes I’ve seen you on T.V. and in the newspapers but when you started I gave you 3 months”. To which I replied, “I didn’t know that you were the person in charge of business longevity and success. I’m glad I never spoke with you before.”
The moral of the story, Don’t Allow Other Peoples’ Opinions To Cause You Self-Doubt.
As Napolean Hill wrote in “Think and Grow Rich”, “Opinions are the cheapest commodities on earth. Everyone has a flock of opinions ready to be wished upon anyone who will accept them. If you are influenced by “opinions” when you reach DECISIONS, you will not succeed in any undertaking.”
